Meet Photographer – Jay Lamour

Jay Lamour 2

One of the perks of being a style blogger has been having the opportunity to meet industry people.  Along the way, I’ve come to learn that photographers are some of the most interesting people. Local Boston photographer Jay Lamour is known for his big personality and obvious love for his craft; which puts him in a league of his own. I had the chance to interview Jay and learn about his passion for photography and his inspirations. CB: What sparked your interest in photography? JL: My love for…

Makuwa SwimWear Boston Fashion Week Show

20171002-DSC_2112

Boston Fashion Week has come and gone in what feels like a blink of an eye. Once dubbed the least fashionable city in the US – Boston Fashion Week has peaked the interest of the industry locally and internationally, proving that Boston has a lot to offer to the fashion community. Each year during fashion week designers are tasked with using this platform to flex their design skills. I attended the Makuwa SwimWear fashion show at Liquid Art House. Makuwa SwimWear is…

Boston’s Emerging Fashion Scene

IMG_1951

As each collection completed, a roaring of applause followed at the VOGE Fashion Runway show in February at the W Boston. At a glance it seemed like a Project Runway reunion. Nathalia JMag and Cornelius Ortiz were among the designers showcasing their wares. In the audience were their comrades and fellow Project Runway alums, Mah-Jing Wong and Linda Marcus. I was thrilled to be seated directly across from the pair. Events like these are instrumental in helping the local fashion…

Ash & Rose

I remember attending Ash & Rose’s grand opening a year ago and being enamored with the ambiance. My eyes danced at the sight of all the colorful and cool designs. I became an instant fan. The clothing at Ash & Rose can be worn with such ease. I think we all at times associate a brand or retailer as being for a particular type of  woman, and more often than not, you feel as if you aren’t their target customer…

BloDry Boutique: Inviting, Fun and Indulgent

blodry_boutique13

A couple of weeks ago I visited BloDry Boutique located in the heart of Boston.  BloDry Boutique specializes in high quality blowouts for all hair textures. Initially, I was a little like skeptical as to whether my stylist could tame my unruly mane. I’ve had a number of unsatisfactory salon experiences that left me feeling as if I wasted my time and money. In these situations the stylists were hesitant and less than enthused to do my hair. It made me feel unwelcome in their…

Meet Project Runway Hopeful, Cornelius Ortiz!

project-runway-season-15-cast-3

No matter what you think of him, Cornelius Ortiz’s talent is undeniable; making him a fierce competitor in this current season of Project Runway. I found myself seated next to Cornelius during a Boston Fashion Week event. I immediately, bombarded him with questions, about Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn and his future endeavors. The Boston-based designer, graciously tolerated all of my questions, and was kind enough to answer more questions for this post. Chic Beat: How did you get your start…
