Since seeing the first few leaves swirling around on the ground – a telltale sign that we’ll be ushering autumn in soon enough, I’ve been wearing my worn in denim and booties on repeat. These two things are what fall wardrobes rely on. Denim is a tried and true classic in American fashion. You would think something so ingrained in a culture for decades and decades could lose its spontaneity. This is not the case.
Denim has not only stood through the test of time because of its diversity but because of the way people who wear it choose to style it. Denim shorts for fall is an unexpected twist. As a whole, denim is extremely versatile and denim shorts are proving to be true of this as well. Wearing shorts in the fall has become a trend over the last few years. There’s something defiant and angsty about it, as if you’re giving the finger to Mother Nature and continue to wear shorts despite the chilly temps.
The key to pulling off this look is wearing your shorts with more seasonal pieces. That means pull out your sweaters, flannels, scarfs, tights and most definitely your boots. As the temps continue to decline, I’ll add a turtleneck under my jacket and opaque tights or even opt to swap out the booties for over-the-knee boots.
Are you determined to pull off denim shorts for fall/ winter? And easy and classic outfit formula is a button down shirt, leather jacket, denim shorts and booties for the win.
