My senses are buzzing from all the signs of fall around me – The rustling of leaves, the taste of pumpkin lattes and the feel of cozy fabrics. It’s the first day of fall and I’m still excited about fall fashion. Though it’s still pretty nice weather-wise in my neck of the woods – yesterday I actually needed to pull out one of my trusty sweaters that I haven’t seen in what feels like forever.
Fall style is all about rich textures. Suede and chunky knits are my fabrics of choice. And of course the mixing of contrasting textures is the best part. Try mixing sleek pieces with cozier fabrics for a streamlined look. As we begin transitioning into fall, you may notice that your clothing options will get darker and lack in color. However, texture can make up for this void.
If you’re still experiencing warm weather, you’re not reaching for heavy fabrics. Instead, incorporate wool and cotton blends or even satin. Light layers are key. I hate packing on the layers and then you’re sweating by the time you get to your destination. You can layer and add texture with your accessories, like adding a scarf or stylish floppy fedora or beret.
