Those cold temperatures make going outside seem unthinkable; however I was determined to not let the cold weather beat me into submission over the weekend. Staying in and cozying up in front of the tv was very tempting. That is pretty much what I did on Saturday; but I was determined to get my butt into gear and get out on Sunday.
The first step to helping motivate myself to brace the frigid temperatures was ensuring that I would be warm. I started with a thin body hugging layer and then applied subsequent thin layers and progressively the layers bulked up. Once equipped with warm layers, I was ready to hit the streets. I had to make sure it was worth leaving the house, so I planned to do a couple of the things that I enjoy.
Brunch – One thing I wholeheartedly believe in is that Sunday mornings are meant for mimosas and brunch. I had been meaning to drop in at this restaurant that is literally across the street from my apartment. The bright and open space was inviting. The food was fantastic. I opted for the huevo rancheros. I’m not a huge pork eater; but the crispy pork belly was the bomb. I sat at the bar and watched From Dusk Till Dawn. Vampires and brunch?? The day was shaping up to be awesome.
Matinee – I prefer watching movies during the day. I like shorter lines and smaller crowds. If I go to the movies in the evening; I can guarantee that I will fall asleep during the flick. There’s something about the darkness that makes me instantly sleepy. To enhance my movie going experience, I choose to watch the movie in a luxury seating theatre. Yes, At times I can be a little fancy. I’ve grown to become a fan of Marvel’s X-Men; so I had to see Logan. I don’t want to spill the beans for anyone that hasn’t seen the movie; but I’ll just say that at the end of the movie I was in shock and had so many unanswered questions…
The warm weather is bound to arrive at some point. Don’t let the cold weather put a damper on your days. Bundle up and venture out and see what wonders winter has to offer.
