As each collection completed, a roaring of applause followed at the VOGE Fashion Runway show in February at the W Boston. At a glance it seemed like a Project Runway reunion. Nathalia JMag and Cornelius Ortiz were among the designers showcasing their wares. In the audience were their comrades and fellow Project Runway alums, Mah-Jing Wong and Linda Marcus. I was thrilled to be seated directly across from the pair.
Events like these are instrumental in helping the local fashion industry grow. They are a testament of the talented artists living and creating in New England. VOGE creates opportunities to introduce the audience to local designers and vice versa. This is helping to build a positive reflection of the local fashion scene and strengthening the comradely within the local industry.
Martha Jackson, Irina Gorbman, Angelina J. Monteiro and Najah Muhammad were also among the designers showcasing their collections. The designs exhibited a wide variety of elements that were creatively assembled. From clean lines and crisp edges to romantic floral embellished designs. There was something to appease every sense of style.
You don’t have to take my word for it. See the gallery of the collections and discover my favorite looks.
