It’s a week past Labor Day and I bravely continue to wear white. Gone are the days of antiquated fashion rules. Where did the no white clothing after Labor Day rule come from? Most of my life I was programmed to think that it was a fashion no-no, but whose rule is this? I know a simple Google search would reveal the answer, but I’m too lazy to do the research. 🙂 I’m not sure if you noticed, but there are fashionistas everywhere daring to break this fashion rule by wearing white well into the fall and looking quite stylish, while they do it. Breaking the rules never looked so good.
If you’ve built up the guts to wear white, after what marks the proverbial end of summer – how are you going to wear it? You wouldn’t throw on your tank, tube top and flip-flops and go (or at least not if you live up North). You can pull off wearing white all year round by pairing white with more seasonal pieces.
- White (or off white) jeans look great paired with a chambray shirt and suede boots. Mixing textures creates a look suitable for fall apple picking and not frolicking at the beach.
- A white dress can be worn with heels and a jacket and look tres chic.
- If you’re feeling truly daring go neutral. Opt for a look composed of shades of white in your favorite knits.
- Accessories truly make an outfit. A silk scarf, long gold necklaces and wide brim hats add a hint of fall to any look.
Now, you can seamlessly transition into fall and incorporate your summer favorites indiscriminately.
