Drape, Tuck and Tie: Ways to Wear a Button Down Shirt

A button down shirt is a piece that can stand on its own.  However, I always find myself in search of ways to put my personal touch on a style. I love button downs for their simplicity, but at times I crave a little more than simple. That’s how I wound up turning this classic men’s button down shirt into a drapey less conservative style.

Drape, Tuck and Tie

I put on the shirt and started buttoning it from under my bust. Next I slipped my arms out of the shirt and tucked the collar inside the shirt. I took the left sleeve pulled it up behind my left shoulder and took the right sleeve and draped it up across the front of the shirt. I then double tied the sleeves at the top of my left shoulder. For a decorative touch, I pulled the cuffs in opposite directions and puffed them up to resemble a bow (or something like that). Lastly, I added a belt to create a fitted look.

This is a great style for everyday with jeans and shirts this summer. You can also take it for a spin for an evening out – like I did.

Such a cool way to create own your savvy style with the basic button down. Definitely something I will try. Your red tipped shoes really make it pop. Easy breezy, beautiful fun look for spring, summer or autumn.
