The first feature of 2016 is Sammy from The Bargain Baglady (http://www.bargainbaglady.com) Sammy is my kind of girl. She has a keen ability to spot a bargain in the unlikeliest places. She’s a thrifting diva! She’s inspiring others to be stylish and chic without spending all their coins. Here’s Sammy!
When did you start thrifting? I have basically been thrifting since before I could walk! I have very fond memories of finding vintage care bears, rainbow brite toys and neon 1990s fashion as a young child, its a type of shopping that I’ve always known.

Have you always had a penchant for finding a good bargain? Since I’ve been doing this my entire 26 years of living, I feel as though it has been instilled in my soul. Bargain hunting is how I roll, I really don’t know any other way of shopping and I truly believe that this will help me in the future.

Where’s your favorite place to go thrifting? I have a salvation army about 5 minutes down the road from where I live, it’s my GO-TO thrift shop. The stock turnover is impeccable and I always find something on my journey. They always have a lot of sales too which means even more bargains!

What’s your most prized find from all your thrifting hauls? I have quite a few, (I actually wrote a post about my fave finds in 2015 http://www.bargainbaglady.com/my-top-5-favourite-thrifted-pieces-for-2015/) But my favourite is still the Cooper St skirt for only $4!
(second photo attached) It’s a gorgeous Aussie designer skirt and I absolutely love it!

What are some thrifting 101 pointers you have for folks out there? Always REFINE your thrift search. Go into the store knowing where you want to search for bargains. Also, I believe doing the store in one direction helps a lot too (Clockwise, Counter-clockwise) and Always triple check the quality of your items before purchase.

I hope you enjoyed reading Sammy’s adventures in thrifting. You’re now equipped with the basics of thrifting  to embark on your own adventure. You’re welcome 😉

This year my focus is making connections and building a sense of community with other fabulously fashionable women out there. If you’d like to be featured on Chic Beat or just want to say hello, head over to my contact page and send me a message. I can’t wait to hear from you!
